Title: Cultural Branding Remix: Visual Culture, Media Representations, and Minority Identities
Professor Angelica Muro situates her art within complicated dialogues about modern date political, social and cultural issues. Her work has a California focus on class, wealth and social standing. She uses digital media to express the extreme differences between the rich and the poor and the haves and the have-nots.
Muro received her MFA degree from Mills College in 2005 and a BA in Photography from San José State University in 1998. She has had many exhibitions including: Packing Heat, Slanguage, Chico & Chang, and Interstice. Currently, she is an assistant professor of Integrated Media and Photography at California State University, Monterey Bay, in the department of Visual and Public Art.
